Climbers in Zion

Climbers in Zion, originally uploaded by dmarks007.

Ellie and I spent the weekend after CTIA at Zion National Park, which we had never visited before. We’re both avid hikers and also go climbing at the local climbing wall. Ellie has some decent outdoor climbing experience, while I’ve only climbed outdoors once and it was just a top-rope kinda thing in the peninsula.

In Zion, we spotted quite a few climbers on the big walls there. It’s all pretty advanced stuff — nothing for us beginners.

You can see a few advanced climbers in this photo which we snapped from across the main canyon on the West Rim Trail. They’re climbing a cliff of perhaps 2,000 vertical feet, and this shot shows only a part of the face. Someday, perhaps 😉
